About Monroe County Criminal History

Official criminal records for Monroe County are kept by several distinct custodians. They include the sheriff, county courts, municipal police departments, Michigan State Police Criminal Justice Information Center, Michigan Department of Corrections, and Michigan Public Sex Offender Registry. This private resource maps those official routes so a reader can choose the correct portal, counter, or telephone contact without assuming the agencies share one public master record.

Why We Built This Site

Public access in Michigan runs through several channels, each with a separate purpose. Monroe County Jail records concern booking and custody. The clerks of the 1st District Court and 38th Circuit Court maintain filed charges, case events, outcomes, and sentences. MSP CJIC provides statewide public history through ICHAT, MDOC maintains OTIS, and MSP administers the public registry. Verified contacts, request methods, fees, and portals are organized here without blurring those agency lines.

What We Cannot Do

Monroe County Criminal History is a privately operated reference. It is not connected with any Michigan court, police department, sheriff's office, or state agency. As a result:

  • We do not issue court papers, rap sheets, or certified records
  • We cannot submit a FOIA request or set-aside filing for a visitor
  • We do not retrieve a criminal record or perform an official check
  • We cannot interpret a particular charge or give legal advice
  • We cannot promise that an agency's hours, fees, or contacts will never change

Only the maintaining government office can provide an official copy, whether that custodian is a court clerk, Monroe County Sheriff, or MSP CJIC.
