Terms of Use

Every visit to Monroe County Criminal History, including a search or use of its content, is governed by these terms. Continued use means the terms are accepted. A person who disagrees with any condition must discontinue use.

NO FCRA USE. This privately run website has no government affiliation and is not a consumer reporting agency or private investigation firm. Neither it nor its advertising partners provides a service for credit, employment, insurance, tenant, or other decisions regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Its purpose is to identify public criminal-record resources in Monroe County, Michigan.

1. What This Website Is

This is a private reference site, independent of government. It does not store official files, obtain records for visitors, perform official checks, or submit legal documents.

The content points to Monroe County Sheriff Records, local court clerks, MSP CJIC, the Michigan Public Sex Offender Registry, and outside tools that may support personal research. Access to Michigan public-body records is governed by the Michigan Freedom of Information Act, MCL 15.231 et seq., while public criminal-history dissemination through ICHAT is addressed by MCL 28.242a.

2. Rules for Using This Site

Use is conditioned on an agreement not to:

  • Use content for conduct that violates federal, state, or local law
  • Threaten, stalk, or harass another person with information found here
  • Apply site content to credit, employment, housing, or insurance decisions
  • Attempt unauthorized entry into any website system
  • Deploy bots, scrapers, or other automated collection tools
  • Interfere with performance or another visitor's access

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

No site or linked-tool information may be used to threaten, stalk, intimidate, harass, or unlawfully discriminate. Michigan Public Sex Offender Registry information is provided for community safety. Misuse against a registrant can violate Michigan law. Vigilante conduct and discriminatory use are prohibited.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

We are not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and do not create consumer, credit, or background reports. Site or linked-tool information cannot be used to:

  • Make an employment decision
  • Evaluate an applicant for housing
  • Set credit or insurance terms
  • Decide eligibility for a license, permit, or public benefit
  • Carry out any other FCRA-regulated purpose

A legally compliant check for a regulated purpose must come from the proper official or FCRA-compliant provider, not this website.

5. No Legal Advice

General explanations of Monroe County records are not legal advice. Only a licensed Michigan attorney can advise how a charge, warrant, conviction, or set-aside rule applies to a specific situation.

6. No Warranties

All content is supplied "as is," without a guarantee that:

  • Information is always current, complete, or correct
  • Partner search results are accurate or comprehensive
  • Pages contain no errors, defects, or security weaknesses
  • Service will remain uninterrupted

Charges, dispositions, restrictions, and expungements change official records over time. Site content may lag those changes and never serves as an official statement from a court, sheriff, or other agency.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links can lead to courts, sheriff pages, Michigan agencies, legal resources, and outside search providers. Those destinations control their own data practices, prices, content, and availability. Their terms apply once a visitor leaves this website.

8. Intellectual Property

Text, graphics, logos, and code belong to Monroe County Criminal History or its content partners. Written permission is required before copying, modifying, distributing, or creating derivative material.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for damages arising from site use, including reliance on content or a linked service.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, demands, actions, legal fees, and related costs caused by your use of the website or breach of these terms.

11. Governing Law

Michigan law governs these terms. Any dispute tied to website use must be brought in a court located in Michigan.

12. Changes to These Terms

Terms may be revised at any time. A new version takes effect when posted here.

13. Cutting Off Access

Access may be restricted or terminated at any time, with or without notice.

14. Severability

If one provision is held invalid or unenforceable, all remaining provisions continue. The affected text is narrowed only as much as needed for enforcement.

15. Questions

Questions about these terms can be directed through the Contact page.
